The Photographer
Deb – Capturing Stories in Light
Creativity has always shaped my world. From painting and drawing to baking and photography, I’ve spent my life exploring ways to tell stories with my hands. I spent years as a pastry chef, crafting flavors and textures, moving from Italy to London, where my husband and I built Buzzing Bee Baked Things—a bakery born from passion and perseverance.
It was here, in that space of creation, that photography found me again. I needed images for the bakery, so I studied—books, online courses, trial and error. And soon, the camera stopped being just a tool—it became an extension of my hand, my way to document fleeting moments and shape them into narratives.
Once the world opened up again, so did my lens. Street photography, long exposures, landscapes, aerial shots—each frame told a new story, and I followed where the light took me. My obsession grew. A camera became a collection of lenses, filters, tripods, a drone, and even film - a Minolta from 1994, a Yashika and a Bencini Koroll from the ‘60, a Ross Ensign Ful Vue Super from the ‘50s - rediscovered like an old friend.
Photography is my escape, my way to step outside the everyday and breathe. It’s my meditation, my connection to the world, my quiet rebellion against routine. It’s helped me grow, say yes to new experiences, and embrace both solitude and community.
Now, I’m taking a step away from the kitchens to pursue photography full-time—capturing travel, landscapes, stories, and the restless beauty of movement and place.
